You put a little piece of yourself into every quilt you make, and Jo-Ann is hoping you'll share that bit of yourself with us...by participating in our Quilt Your Colors Quilt Contest.

All you need to do to is use your talent, skills and imagination to create a quilt made with quilting fabric purchased from Jo-Ann (in store or via Joann.com). Winning entries will be selected based on workmanship and skill level, originality and level of detail as shown in the photographs submitted and the information provided on the entry form.

Contest participants have a chance to win one of ten fabulous prize packages:

HOW TO ENTER

Question: How long does the contest run?
Answer: This contest runs from Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 through Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010. To be eligible, your entry must be postmarked by Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 and received by Jo-Ann no later than Friday, Dec. 31, 2010.

Question: How do I participate in the Jo-Ann Quilt Contest?
Answer: Using fabric purchased at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores or from Joann.com, create a quilt that is at least 36"x36" (lap size) and no larger than 104"x93" (king size). Complete the entry form – available at your local Jo-Ann store or downloadable by visiting Joann.com/quiltcontest – and mail it to Jo-Ann.

All entries MUST include all of the following to be eligible:

1. ENTRY FORM – Completed official entry form available online at Joann.com/quiltcontest or from your local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store.
2. RECEIPT – Photocopy of your Jo-Ann store or Joann.com receipt(s) showing proof of purchase of all fabrics used to make the quilt.
3. PHOTOGRAPHS – At least two (2) color photographs (one of entire quilt hanging and one of detail), but no more than five (5) photographs, of the quilt. Photos should be no smaller than 4"x6" and no larger than 5"x7" and should list entrant’s name, address and telephone number on the back of each photograph. All photographs become the property of Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and will not be returned.
   NOTE: No professional photography allowed.
4. SIGNED RELEASE – Each entrant must sign the Liability and Publicity Release and Consent (“Release”) at the bottom of the entry form.

SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY

Question: Where do I sent my entry?
Answer: Mail your completed entry, copies of your receipt(s), photographs and the signed release to:

Entries must be postmarked by Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, and received no later than Friday, Dec. 31, 2010. [NOTE: Do not send the actual quilt, unless requested.]

Question: Can I enter online and submit digital photographs?
Answer : No, Jo-Ann is not accepting online entries for this contest.

Question: Can I drop my entry for the contest off at my local Jo-Ann store (or the corporate offices)?
Answer: Hand-delivered entries will not be accepted and if left at our office will not be entered in the contest. Incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified. Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated or postage due mail.

PROJECT DETAILS

Question: Can I enter more than one quilt in the contest?
Answer: No, each entrant may submit only one quilt.

Question: Can I use a quilt kit or bundle to create my quilt?
Answer: Quilt kits purchased from your local Jo-Ann store or Joann.com are permitted, but you must make the quilt with little or no assistance from others. No groups or team entries are allowed.

Question: Do I need to buy "every single item" for the quilt from Jo-Ann?
Answer: The goal of the contest is to show what you can create with fabrics available from Jo-Ann. This does not mean that a receipt is required for every single item used to create your quilt as we realize that many quilters will maintain a supply of basic sewing/quilting tools and supplies such as shears, pins and needles, a seam ripper, sewing machine, etc. The fabric used for the quilt needs to come from Jo-Ann with receipt(s) provided showing proof of purchase.

ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

Question: Who is eligible to participate in this contest?
Answer: This contest is open to legal U.S. residents, 18 years of age or older to enter; void in Maryland and Vermont.

Question: Why have Maryland and Vermont been excluded from eligibility for this contest?
Answer: Maryland and Vermont have provisions prohibiting the payment of money in order to participate in a contest. Since the rules require that participants purchase materials to create their quilt, allowing residents from those states to participate would violate state laws.

Question: My mother works for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, may I still participate?
Answer: Officers, directors, and employees of Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., AccuQuilt™, Fabric Traditions®, Gingher®, Gutermann®, OttLite®, Simplicity®, Singer®, Springs Creative, The Warm™ Company, Sew Essentials™ its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and immediate family members (parent, child, spouse, grandparent, grandchild, brother, sister) and members of the households of such persons (whether or not related) are not eligible to participate in the contest.

SELECTION OF WINNERS & NOTIFICATION

Question: How will entries be judged?
Answer: A panel of sewing experts will judge all eligible entries, selecting twenty (20) finalists based on the workmanship/skill level, originality and level of detail shown in the photographs submitted and the information provided on the entry form. The finalists will be notified via e-mail and/or telephone on or about Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, and must send their finished quilt to Jo-Ann by Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, for further judging.

Jo-Ann will provide self-addressed pre-paid label in order to ship quilts. Any finalist(s) who do not provide a quilt will be disqualified. [Again, do not send in your quilt unless requested to do so by a Jo-Ann representative.]

Question: How will prize winners be chosen?
Answer: The judges will select one Grand Prize, one Second Prize, one Third Prize and seven Runner-Up based on the workmanship/skill level, originality and level of detail demonstrated in the quilts themselves. Judges include representatives from Jo-Ann Stores, Inc.

Question: When will winners be notified?
Answer: The ten (10) winners will be notified of the final prize awards by e-mail and/or telephone on or about March 4, 2011, and will have 5 business days to contact Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. regarding their prizes.

If a potential winner cannot be reached after a reasonable effort has been made during 5 business days from the first notification attempt, such person will be disqualified. Winners are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes on prizes.

Question: What are my odds of winning?
Answer: Because this is a contest of skill, the odds of winning will depend upon the quality and eligibility of submissions received and your final overall score, as determined by the judging criteria.

Question: Can I call or e-mail someone at Jo-Ann to find out if I’ve won?
Answer: No telephone calls or correspondence will be accepted from contestants inquiring on winners or judge’s selections. Anyone not complying with all the contest rules will automatically be disqualified.
