Your Rewards Questions

Tuesday, we asked you on our Facebook page what you wanted to know about our Rewards Programs. Audrie @ Jo-Ann picked five topics, and answers your questions below.

What a great group of questions everyone asked! I am grateful to so many of you which took the time to respond and I appreciate all of your feedback. Whether it was questions, thoughts on how to improve a program or suggesting a new program, we appreciate them all and thank you.

I have answered five of your questions below, if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us! -Audrie @ Jo-Ann

Coupons
Barbara McQueeney: can you use coupons WITH the discount card?
Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Great question and it is one we hear a lot. You cannot use coupons in combination with your discount card. However, you can use your discount card on sale priced items, which do not qualify for coupons. In the end, you’re still getting a great deal.

Student Discount
Andrea Toven: To get the student discount card, do you just have to show your DL and one of those other 3 items? I have a university ID, but no report card or acceptance letter (I'm an independent researcher in medieval history). Glad to spend my money in the store instead of on Joann.com!
Rachel Powell: Do you have to have all 3 items listed for the student discount in addition to your state ID? Universities don't give out report cards, and I don't know what I did with my acceptance letter.
Jeanne Grubin: My grandaughter is 12, and has finished her first quilt top, after shopping at Joann's, she has since purchased her material for the second quilt, She is in grade 7, why can't she get a student discount?
Rebecca Rogers: I still haven't gotten my student card...been about 6 weeks.
Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Andrea, Rachel, Jeanne and Rebecca: The student discount program is one of our newest programs and we appreciated all of your questions and feedback. The identification you need include a state issued id and one of the following:
  • Student identification card for the current school year with the college, school or school district clearly identified.
  • College acceptance letter signifying enrollment into a program.
  • A report card from the current school year if your school does not issue identification cards.
Due to rules and regulations, the minimum age for a student ID card is 14. We will look into lowering the age for our upcoming program year, thanks for the suggestion!

The card should arrive in the mail within four to six weeks, if you don’t receive it, please contact our Customer Service department at: 1-888-739-4120

VIP Program
Stephanie Wyatt: I have an ASG VIP card. About 3/4 of the time, it only discounts 1 of my purchases, even tho many more are not already on a coupon. Also, some stores will take multiple coupons and some won't. What's the rule?
Michelle LaDuke Rawls: I would like to see you recognize online sales through Etsy as being a reseller. I have spent close to $1000 in the past 3 months and will likely be taking my business to fabric.com or someplace else since I am annoyed that you will not honor the fact that I am a reseller through, Etsy, My Own Webpage and Facebook.
Lynda Clark: I am a member of American Needlepoint Guild (ANG). I don't have a membership card per se, but I do know what my member number is. Will that be good enough?
Kim Bradbury: Are there any specific requirements to be considered as a craft guild?
Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Stephanie, Michelle, Lynda and Kim: VIP questions all around! Membership cards help us determine the legitimacy of a group. ASG, for example, sends membership cards to each of their members upon enrollment. Without this membership card, we are unable to determine if you are a member of any affiliation, so please bring in your membership card!

If you are a reseller, do you have a reseller card or something signifying you are a reseller such as an EIN? This is the verification we need to give you the VIP card so you can begin receiving discounts.

The VIP discount is valid on every purchase whether it is regular or sales prices, this discount cannot be used in combination with couponed items. (Example: you use a 40% off coupon on an item, the VIP discount will not be applied on top of the 40% off coupon)

Discount/Rewards Card

Audrie @ Jo-Ann: A Jo-Ann’s discount/rewards card -- so many wonderful program ideas and suggestions, where do I start? Currently, if you are a Jo-Ann Preferred customer, you get a sales flyer every two to three weeks full of wonderful coupons to use for your purchases. You are also able to sign-up for our text message coupons, as well as our mobile apps which give you countless opportunities for additional coupons and don’t forget about our Facebook page!

We are constantly looking for additional ways to improve your customer experience and will begin utilizing these tactics later this spring. Check your mailbox for more great offers coming from Jo-Ann!

  1. I'm an Etsy seller in Oregon and a sole proprietor, so the only documentation I have showing my business is my business name registration. Will that be sufficient?

  6. Why doesn't JoAnn's have a rewards program like their competitor AC Moore where I get a reward point for every $1 I spend and when I have accumulated 200 points I get a $10 rewards certificate? They also offer coupons.

  8. "Sew Inspired, LLC: Michelle, that would be really good for me--I shop there all the time--my husband calls it my second home, I call it my happy place. I'm probably their #1 customer at my local store :) http://www.blogger.com/profile/03628162403732316238" Hi! I saw this was posted, but isn't in the comments on the backend. Just wanted to make sure it was shared :) -Kim @ Jo-Ann

  9. I really think the VIP discount should be allowed on top of coupons, otherwise we are not getting any better deal than the other shoppers.

  10. My current status does not qualify me to be a VIP, Teacher, Student, Military Person, Senior Citizen or whatever else there is but I believe there are others out there who are also deserving of the special discounts you offer those people. I may not be a teacher but I worked 20+ years in a drug and alcohol facility, educating clients about addiction. I think it is wonderful that you offer additional discounts, but have you ever stopped to think there are alot more people in this world who sew, quilt, embroider, and do crafts that may be just as deserving?? Please understand that I am not trying to take away from these groups who now get discounts. I just know that I spend lots of money at Joann's and most of my projects are used as gifts for others. I do not profit in any way from them. I am sure there are many other people out there who share my opinion. Thanks for the opportunity to voice it!

  12. For the VIP, does it have to be membership from a guild or can it only be EIN for proof?
