Jo-Ann Project: Peace Sparkles T-ShirtWhether you want to express your heart's desire or are looking to create a one-of-a-kind, gift for someone special, you will enjoy the peaceful, cathartic process of creating this t-shirt...without ever picking up a paintbrush.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, with a little help from the folks at Sulyn, Jo-Ann showed shoppers how to turn an ordinary tee into an extraordinary fashion statement with a liquid glitter paint and a few gems.

For those who couldn't make it out or don't have a large Jo-Ann store nearby that has the space to host classes and demos, we have the projects for you here and on Joann.com/projects.

Directions

  1. Jo-Ann Project: Peace Sparkles T-Shirt StepsPlace T-shirt on board so the top of the shirt is smooth and flat. Tape excess fabric to back of board to pull it taut.
  2. Trace lines of peace sign pattern with chalk pencil. Turn chalk side down and center peace sign just below the neckline. Hold in place with one hand, rub over the paper with the other to transfer the pattern.
  3. In one section, make thick lines of Mermaid, Grape Soda and Blue Heaven.
  4. Use toothpick to comb back and forth between the colors, blending and completely covering the section.
  5. Repeat in all sections.
  6. Fill in outline of the peace sign with gold.
  7. Set 3 gems into the center bar at the top of the peace sign. All edges of the gem must be seated into the wet Sparkle 21 to hold the gem when dry.
  8. Under the peace sign, write or print the word PEACE.
  9. Allow shirt to dry for 48 hours before wearing.

In addition to this apparel project, Saturday's shoppers learned more about papercrafting using the Cricut & Gypsy machines and how to screen print using the Yudu machine by Provo Craft®.
