  1. Last year's winner, Janet Fogg, was a professional quilter. Will professionals be excluded this year?

  3. I just found out about this contest so I only have a month to produce a quilt if I want to enter. I'd also like to know if I'd be competing against professional quilters. Don't think I'd waste my time if I'm competing against somebody with a long arm machine and previous wins.

  4. Hi Darla & Anonymous, we don't exclude professionals in our rules, so I believe they're still allowed to participate. We'll definitely think about this for future contests, though. Thank you! -Kim @ Jo-Ann

  5. since i'm a first time quilter and contest entrant i also think this should be taken into consideration.who knows, one day i may be a professional if given a chance to show what i can do. i've finally got the quilting bug and love it!

  6. I did not know I was competing with professionals I do not have a long arm so I had to quilt by hand which did not give me a lot of time. Now that I read these comments I feel I wasted my time.

  7. Where's the list of winners? Wish I'd know professionals were included. I would not have wasted my money, which was rather significant!! What a racket!!

  8. I would also like to see the winners and pics of the quilts. I entered for the first time too and I made my entire quilt by hand. This was only the second quilt I have ever made I wish Jo Anns would take that into part of how they judge them.

  9. I'm very disappointed, I had no idea the contest was open to professionals. This was the first time I took the chance to enter a contest, but I know now I had no chance. I certainly won't enter again. Very disappointed in Jo-Anns.

  10. I would like to see the top 20-22 quilts online. We who entered would like to see who won. How many actually entered this year? I am disappointed in how there is no recognition from Joann's for all of the work entrants have put in. I spent more on this contest for the materials than I have for anything else I have sewn, including prom dresses and wedding outfits. It would be nice to actually get a "thank you for entering" note or coupon of some sort.
