Fashion-Inspired Friendship Necklace

SUPPLIES AND TOOLS:

DIRECTIONS:
This project is more about throwing something special together quickly than about creating something exact.  This slightly more grown-up take on the classic friendship bracelet is a simple and fast way to top off an outdoor party look. Make a few in different variations to share with friends.

1. Cut hemp rope to the length of a desired necklace.  Secure ends of the hemp rope with tape or glue to prevent fraying.  I added a few loops in case I want to add shell or stone charms at a later date.

2. Wrap thicker nylon cord in various color blocks to create a pattern at the neck.

3. Wrap thinner stings and cords around the remainder of the rope to your liking.  Layer different strings with hemp or nylon cord for a richer look.  Make sure to keep the wrapping tight to prevent snagging.

4. Secure the ends of each wrapped string with tape or glue.

Add charms if you like!

Et Voila!
