Visit Joann.com between Nov. 7 & Dec. 4
to vote for the American Cancer Society,
Operation Write Home or Project Linus
In August, Jo-Ann launched a contest encouraging artists, crafters and sewing enthusiasts to make and donate handmade items to their favorite charity.
Donors could then enter the Craft for a Cause Contest for a chance to win a $1,500 Jo-Ann Gift Card by submitting photos of their contribution, their Jo-Ann receipt and an an explanation of why they made the donation. Each entry received on or before Oct. 30 also acted as a "nomination" for the charity receiving the donation.
The first phase of the contest has ended. Congratulations to the American Cancer Society, Operation Write Home and Project Linus--the three charities that received the most nominations. These charities will receive donations from Jo-Ann totaling $90,000. Public voting will determine how much each charity receives. The charity with the most votes will receive a $50,000 donation, second will receive $25,000 and third, $15,000.
Due to a technical glitch, a webpage including a beta test version of the poll for the Jo-Ann Craft for a Cause Contest went live prematurely on Joann.com. Official voting starts on Saturday, Nov. 7 and will end at11:59 pm EST on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2010
As soon as we were alerted that the poll was live on the page, we closed it. Because voting is not scheduled to begin until Sunday, Nov. 7, and we wish to provide the top three charities with the same opportunity to notify their supporters, all votes cast prior to the official start date have been cleared from the system.
We encourage everyone to visit Joann.com/craftforacause on and after Nov. 7, 2010, to vote for their favorite charity from the top three and to share the link with family and friends.
REMEMBER: You may cast only one vote per person per day. Jo-Ann reserves the right to remove duplicate votes that violate the official rules.

I so believe in this cause! Though my charity did not make it to the top, I've been so inspired by this project that I've decided to keep on going! I am in the process of building local and online support to help me turn my lil'donation into a huge one that can truly make a difference for my charity - even more so to the women and children Enchanted Makeovers supports! They transform shelters into healing havens using hand made goods donate by artisans around the USA! I believe in their mission. I believe Hand Made Heals™.
ReplyDeleteA hand-made object carries all the love, hope and inspiration of its creator to those who need it most! I am cultivating a call to inspiring muses - United Muses to join together and build on the project I completed for Craft for a cause and cause, making more of an impact uniting than what I am able to do by myself.
I'm creating and donating hand made ornaments for holiday decorations and asking others to either help me construct them in my studio or offer their financial donations on my blog through paypal to help us secure more supplies! Can't wait to turn them over to Enchanted Makeovers within the next month so they can sprinkle various places with sparkly cheer!
Thank you so much for inspiring me to go bigger! So many people are coming together and uniting - it's a warm feeling all around. I think that's a great way to kick off the holiday season - what a ripple effect!
