What About Rewards?

Yesterday, we asked you on our Facebook page what you wanted to know about our Rewards Programs.

Audrie @ Jo-Ann picked five topics, and answers your questions below. Thank you so much for your feedback!

Teacher Rewards
  • Candy Anne: they should have or allow teacher rewards for the aides and teach assistants......also for the parents who work very hard on plays etc for the school and end up paying ALOT out of their pockets for costumes etc plus the time they spend the budget cuts the schools have most wont cover the costume costs etc that they have.
  • Carla Seidel: What about the PTO/PTA moms and dads, class moms, volunteers at school? All those projects add up too!

Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Candy and Carla, we value every teacher and the inspiration you give children which inspires us to pass along the savings to you!  As far as requirements to receive the discount, if you have any credentialed form of school identification, you are eligible to receive the teacher discount card. Recently we have expanded our program to include early childhood professionals; we will continue to identify new opportunities to expand the program. The PTO/PTA programs may qualify for non-profit if they have 501(c)3 documentation. The impact you both have on the classrooms is extraordinary, keep up the great work!

Student Discount
  • Sarah Spindell: With the Student Discount card, can you use a coupon AND your 10% off card?
  • Renee Dircksen: how long do the rewards last and if you get one while in college, do you still keep it after you graduate?
  • Christine Peterson: Please explain Student discount. My 3 granddaughters want to learn to sew but they have to buy their own supplies.
  • Elizabeth Kennedy: For the Student Discount program - Do you have to be a full-time student or does a part-time student (in college) qualify?
  • Roxanne Mendoza: I am an after school teacher and I do a lots of crafts with my children, but how can I get the rewards discount?

Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Hello Sarah, Renee, Christine, Elizabeth and Roxanne! The student program is the newest of our rewards program and we appreciate all of your feedback and questions. The student card is designed for current high school students, 14 years old and up, and college students, full or part-time. If you just qualified for the card and graduated in December, your card will remain valid through August 31, 2012. The discount applies to regular and sale-priced items; unfortunately a coupon is not able to be layered in on top of the savings. To qualify for the card, you must present a state-issued photo ID and one of the following:
  • Student identification card for the current school year with the college, school or school district clearly identified.
  • College acceptance letter signifying enrollment into a program.
  • A report card from the current school year if your school does not issue identification cards.

Non-Profit Discount
  • Kathy Landwehr: Would being a Cub Scout leader count as non-profit? I spend a lot of money on craft things for the Cub Scouts.
  • Dana Barry: I make and sell stuff on etsy and other places and that still doesn't let me get the VIP card...
  • Laura Lee Mendoza:  Can 4-H leaders be eligible for the teacher discount? We teach sewing to 4-H members. So many of the public schools don't even teach sewing anymore, yet teachers can get the bigger discount.

Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Kathy, Dana and Laura, thank you all for your questions, many of your questions regarding qualification for the VIP program are actually answers for the Non-Profit program! Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H Clubs are qualified to receive the non-profit card and discount; all we need is any documentation representing a charitable organization (which will have a 501(c)3) and a state-issued ID and you are qualified. Resellers are also qualified to participate as long as there is a vendor license or a tax-exempt license.

VIP
  • Melinda Berezowsky: Can you combine VIP Rewards Discount with regular coupons?

Audrie @ Jo-Ann: Hi Melinda. Unfortunately you cannot combine the VIP Rewards Discount with coupons but you can use the discount on sale-priced items and in one transaction.

We read all of your feedback and the ideas our Jo-Ann customers have are amazing! We are continuously investigating opportunities to provide value to our customers (and new micro loyalty programs), however we do not offer a program that is all encompassing at this time.
We take all of your comments and feedback seriously and continue to look into making each of our programs better for everyone. Thank you for your feedback, support and great ideas! Keep the questions and feedback coming, we love hearing from you!

  1. I have the 10% discount card as an A Muse Studio consultant, but find myself not using it because JoAnns has so many wonderful, higher valued coupons, and accepts Michaels coupons as well.

  2. I am grateful for the teacher discount! I am A preschool teacher and make very little, but love my job. Any savings is a big deal!

  3. We should all have a discount card...and while I'm here, sure wish I could get Grinch and Dr. Seuss fabrics at JoAnns. I have to order them from Fabric.com. I prefer to buy in a store!!
