Sweet Paul on Creativity

We are so excited to tell you about Sweet Paul, our Creativity Made Simple Influencer for November!

Paul Lowe, a.k.a Sweet Paul, was born and raised in Oslo, Norway. He was raised by his great aunt, Auntie Gunvor, and his grandmother, Mormor. They both were fabulous cooks and crafters, and we think they might have had an influence on him.

Paul started his career in the food and crafting world as a craft and food stylist in New York City. He wanted to showcase his works and started his own blog called Sweet Paul and has been known as Sweet Paul ever since.

On the Sweet Paul blog you can find to-die-for recipes that will make your tummy start grumbling and wonderfully stylish crafts. Alongside his blog, Sweet Paul launched Sweet Paul magazine in 2012.

Sweet Paul is a genuinely creative person and certainly an inspiring one. As part of our Creativity Made Simple campaign, Sweet Paul took time to share with us his thoughts on creativity and what keeps him inspired. We all know that making time to craft and be creative isn't always easy, and that's what Creativity Made Simple is all about. Carving a little bit of time out of your crazy and hectic day to do something you truly love and make time to create.

1. How do you make time to craft?

For me, I actually schedule time in my daily agenda to craft for individual stories in Sweet Paul Magazine. Since I'm usually working on several craft stories at a given time this is an absolute must. I'm lucky in that I don't have kids, I admire all the crafty ladies who make time to do it all.

2. Who/What was your influence to craft?

My great Auntie Gunvor and my grandmother Mormor. These two little old ladies filled my childhood with endless days of crafting, cooking and fun!

3. Name a crafting item you can't live without.

I have two items in my craft kit that are absolute musts, my trusty hot glue gun and my Dremel tool. With these two tools you can just about conquer the world.

4. Someone says, "I'm not creative." How do you respond?

My philosophy is everyone is creative, you just have to make an effort and you'll discover your creative side. Start with something easy and keep at it. If you find a particular project is not for you, move on to something fun and new that inspires you!
